Resin extraction work in governmental forests was transferred to the Corporation by the HP Forest Department during the year 1975-76. Emphasis is being laid on the quality of tapping. It is being ensured that the blazes are of standard size and no over tapping or illicit tapping is done. All the work is got done through Labor Supply Mates under the supervision of the Corporation staff. The work is done by professional trained labor.
ROSIN AND TURPENTINE FACTORIES:
The management of two Rosin and Turpentine oil Factories, at Nahan and Bilaspur, was transferred to the Corporation from 1974. There has been marked increase in qualitative resin processing, rosin and turpentine oil production and subsidiary products like phenyl, varnish, black japan, phenyl etc.
The total installed capacity of the R&T Factories is 1,11,000 quintals per annum i.e. Nahan 37,000 quintals & Bilaspur 74,000 quintals of raw resin.
NATIONALIZATION OF RESIN EXTRACTION WORK:
With a view to check smuggling of resin, HP Resin and Rosin Products (Regulation of Trade) Act, 1981, has been enforced in the State.
